They seek to strengthen security in the Alto Oriente and Magdalena Caldense region

In an effort to maintain security and healthy coexistence in the region, an Expanded Security Council was held in La Dorada, where the situation in each of the municipalities of Magdalena and Oriente Caldenses was evaluated in detail. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Palanquero Air Base, the Caldas Police Department, the Ayacucho Battalion, the Caldas sectional Prosecutor’s Office, the National Protection Unit, Colombian Migration and the first municipal authorities.

During the meeting, the need to maintain unity and coordination between institutions was emphasized to combat phenomena such as extortion, microtrafficking and illegal mining, which represent sources of financing for criminal activities in the area. The Secretary of Government of Caldas, Jorge Andrés Gómez Escudero, highlighted the importance of listening to the concerns of the mayors and taking concrete actions to address them.

“The synergy between all police authorities, the military and the Colombian Air Force is essential to guarantee security in the East of Caldas,” emphasized Gómez Escudero. “We have analyzed strategies and listened to the needs of the municipalities, and now we are ready to implement forceful actions.”

During the Council, recent security results were presented and new strategies were agreed upon to strengthen surveillance and control of the territory. The mayors and Government Secretaries of the municipalities of Samaná, Pennsylvania, Norcasia, Victoria and La Dorada reaffirmed their commitment to working together with the departmental authorities to maintain tranquility in the region and not lower their guard against crime.
