China and Chili have deepened their economic cooperation with the second shipment of sea urchins that enters the market through customs Shenzhena few days after the arrival of the first batch.

It is worth mentioning that a total of 20 packages with 115 kilograms of refrigerated Chilean sea urchins arrived on April 8 by air from Santiago de Chili to the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen.

About, Zhang Lei, general manager of Shenzhen Lift Import and Export company, noted that “on March 31, we imported 48 kilograms of Chilean hedgehogs for the first time. Market sales were very good, so we are now delivering fresh sea urchin meat twice a week or more, with a supply scope covering the entire national market.”

In that sense, as one of the main ports of entry for Chilean products to China, Shenzhen is an ideal place to take the pulse of Sino-Chilean economic and commercial cooperation.

In fact, a third of Chilean cherries exported to China land in the port of Shenzhen to be sent to the interior of the country by rail. At the same time, a considerable number of mobile phones, computers and automobiles manufactured in the Chinese megacity are destined for Chile.

The successful import of chilled Chilean sea urchins constitutes another example of the constant narrowing and expansion of exchanges between China and Chile in economic and commercial matters.

Due to their delicious flavor and high nutritional value, hedgehogs have been appreciated by consumers around the world. However, due to the relatively demanding conditions for its conservation and transportation, its export over long distances has long faced multiple challenges.

In order to improve the efficiency of its mobilization while ensuring quality, Shenzhen Customs actively worked with companies and other related parties to formulate a plan to speed up the entire process from unloading, storage and handling. to inspection and issuance of certificates.

“From flight landing to customs clearance, it took just four hours,” according to Zhang.

As the first South American country to establish diplomatic relations with China, Chile is one of the nations in the region that maintains the most economic and commercial exchanges with the Asian country, bridging geographical distance.

China has been the largest trading partner and main export destination for Chile for many consecutive years, while Chile is China’s third largest trading partner in Latin America. Among the Chilean products most exported to China are copper and lithium minerals and their derivatives, cherries, pork and wine.
