Santiago de Cuba.— For Mirurgia Castillo, senior territorial specialist in Energy Policy of the National Office for the Rational Use of Energy in the province, promoting an environment of control and efficiency in all areas represents the greatest reward for her work.

Graduated from the University of Oriente in 1996, she began her professional career at the Santiago de Cuba Electrical Company, where she worked through several departments until joining the Energy Revolution program in 1998, with the change of gaskets on refrigerators and light bulbs.

As he told the Cuban News Agency, with the creation of the Integrated Directorate of Projects for the Rational Use of Energy in 2001, he joined the ranks of demand regulator professionals in high consumer centers, in order to guarantee the efficient use of resources of this nature.

Ensured dedication to this specialty for just over a decade, by presenting at workshops, competitions, conferences and other scientific events, with the purpose of adopting and updating measures to optimize savings.

He highlighted the performance in the current center since its foundation in 2012, as well as the provision of services for two years in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as part of the Rational Use of Energy project.

According to Castillo, the greatest achievement of the institution lies in generating interest in achieving adequate efficiency in industries, service entities and schools, while he pointed out the challenge of raising awareness of the issue in the residential sector.

Being part of the working force driving the rational use of energy for almost three decades is the main source of pride for Mirurgia Castillo, convinced that she can deliver much more to the socioeconomic development of the nation.
