More difficult than arriving is staying. That maxim will be one of those that will guide and condition the second presidency of Luis Fabián Artime, which began last night with his proclamation at the Gigante de Alberdi and which today takes its first steps.
The challenge is enormous for the former goalscorer because the three-year management that ended yesterday was positive with palpable achievements in both institutional and sporting aspects.
Wherever you look, in these three years since Artime and his board took office in 2021, the Alberdi club, which is on its way to turning 120 years old in 2025, has shown evolution.
It grew in infrastructure, such as with the construction of the Súper Celeste stalls and the expansion of the Cuellar that is already underway, added to the improvements in various sectors of the stadium. It is economically and financially sound according to what was shown in the numbers presented and approved at the assembly.
In sports, the men’s team was promoted and consolidated in the Professional League after being champion in the First National. The women’s team also enjoyed promotion and is firmly in the First Division. And the training divisions continue to be protagonists and project players, as does the reserve.
These are some indicators that confirm that Belgrano is doing well and that the bar is very high after the end of this three-year period yesterday. An enormous challenge awaits Artime and his renewed board, now without several key men from the outgoing commission such as vice presidents Héctor Baistrochi and Héctor Genaro and treasurer Diego Merlino.
The reasons for the schism that occurred at the time of the formation of the new leadership have two truths and only those who participated in those negotiations will know which is real. On both sides there was a common argument: Belgrano comes before anyone. And from both of them there were accusations of personalistic attitudes and ambitions in the opposite sector.
The truth is that the pulling was so intense that nothing could prevent a breakup that time will tell if it will be costly and, if so, how much. Artime explained in public that he is there to make decisions and he did, which infers that he chose the people who will accompany him in his new management and that this choice generated enough displeasure so that the casualties were more than what he imagined. .
In any case, it will be important that there is such continuity that ensures that the good lasts and what is due is improved. Because the new directive starts from the high floor reached, which will have to be maintained and, as far as possible, sustain growth.
