Platform requests information about a femicide in Villa Clara

The feminist platform, Yo Sí Te Creo en Cuba, recently issued an alert to request information about an alleged feminicide that occurred in the province of Villa Clara.

It was through her Facebook profile where she requested information about Yudely Chongo, a young mother who was allegedly murdered by her ex-partner between April 19 and 20 in Mataguá, Manicaragua.

In this way, it is expected that, in the next few hours, the organization will be able to offer new details related to the case.

Meanwhile, if this alleged feminicide is confirmed, a growing list of similar cases reported by the platform on the island would be added.

One of them was in mid-April, when Yo Sí Te Creo in Cuba confirmed the feminicide of Elisbeidi Tamayo Peña, a 39-year-old woman, resident in Sibanicú, province of Camagüey.

According to the platform, “the incident occurred on April 11 and was perpetrated by her ex-partner, who subsequently took his own life,” after turning off the woman’s light, without having any type of right.

In March, it confirmed two new femicides in Cuba. One of the cases was that of Paulina Collazo Diago, found dead in Los Arabos, Matanzas, after having disappeared between February 27 and March 14.

The other tragic case was that of María, a 92-year-old woman, who was the victim of her own son-in-law in Lawton, Diez de Octubre, Havana.

These reports point to a worrying trend of violent deaths of women in suspicious circumstances, often ignored or minimized by authorities.

Meanwhile, the dictatorship, instead of focusing on these types of problems, insists on repressing those who, precisely, are calling for an end to the nightmare.
