In a seminar that took place in the Aula Magna of Duoc UC Headquarters Valparaíso, the School of Computing and Telecommunications carried out the annual launch of the “More Women in ICT” 2024 Program, an activity in which authorities and representatives of public and private entities participated that share this purpose, which will benefit from a series of activities linking with the environment in this calendar year.

The activity was led by the Director of Careers of the School of Computing and Telecommunications of Duoc UC Headquarters Valparaíso, Darwin Morales, together with the Professor in Charge of the “More Women in ICT” Program, Patricia Tapia, with the assistance of La Regional Director of Prodemu, Carrie Adriazola; the Founder of Pedagogía Digital Chile, Carmen Pizarro; the Promoter of the Women STEM Foundation, Carmen Iturra; and the Tourism and Hotel Administration Engineer, Carolina Velasco, who participated in a discussion about the challenges that the next generations of young people must overcome in this field.

It should be noted that this program, which has already begun its activities at headquarters with projects in schools, Prodemu entrepreneurs, digital literacy courses, talks, seminars, among others, seeks to get more women to join careers linked to information technologies and the communication.

As the Program Manager, Patricia Tapia, explains, this initiative considers concrete solutions to benefit women in the region. “At Duoc UC Headquarters Valparaíso, through the capabilities of our students and teachers, we are contributing from the classrooms of the schools and from our own workshops to contribute from our competencies and skills to give access to information technologies to women who thus require it,” he concluded.
