One of the most prestigious schools in the city of Santa Marta is in legal trouble due to the alleged failure to comply with a debt that exceeds $3,000,000,000 million pesos.

Its about IDPHU bilingual schoolwhich houses more than four hundred studentss, the student community is worried because they claim that, due to said debt with the owners of the property where the school operates, they could be evicted.

The school, with its emphasis on high-level bilingual training, is recognized among the Samaritan community for its preparation in the languages ​​of Spanish, English and Frenchbut in the last few hours it has been the subject of questioning for facing procedures before the court fifth municipal civil court, and the fifth civil court of the circuit of Santa Martto.

According to information contained in the demand for restitution of rental property, “The school has failed to pay the rental fees to which an agreement was reached since the school is operating on the property.

For the year 2017, a verbal process was carried out in which it was requested that the rental fee be increased based on the extension of the contract, which was granted in 2021, however, in the face of several appeals in 2023 it was confirmed. in the second instance the sentence in which he was forced to go from $35,000,000 million of pesos in 2017, and with the increases subject to Law, to a sum of $46,661,067 million pesos per month.

In said sentence It was also requested that the termination of the lease contract be declared due to non-payment of monthly rental fees. since June 1, 2023, the date from which the second-degree sentence issued by the honorable Fifth Civil Judge of the Circuit became enforceable.

Additionally, the defendants are ordered to pay the following amounts of money as Lease fees in arrears that exceed $218,946,476 due to the arrears of June payments until October 2023.

Given what happened, the school expressed in a statement that, “in the first instance, it is necessary to mention that as of today, the IDPHU College of Santa Marta SAS does not face any debt that puts its operation and operation at risk of the educational establishment.”

The statement adds that, “Although proceedings are being carried out before the Fifth Municipal Civil Court and the Fifth Civil Court of the Santa Marta Circuit, this is due to a regulation of the rental fee between natural persons.which does not compromise the IDPHU Bilingual School of Santa Marta SAS.”

It ends by saying that, “The IDPHI bilingual School is not immersed in any judicial process, and there is no court order for imminent eviction.”
