The Argentine Confederation of Transport Workers (CATT) announced a strike in air, land and sea transport services for next Monday, May 6. The measure of force arises in response to the tax chapter which contemplates the restitution of Income Taxin the context of the discussion on the Base Law in the Chamber of Deputies.
Juan Carlos Schmid, secretary general of the CATT, confirmed the decision and expressed on his social networks: “On May 6 in the morning and around noon, activities in air, land, port and maritime transport will be interrupted in rejection of the tax agreement that once again sanctions the Income Tax”.
Schmid also highlighted that “information assemblies” will be held that will interrupt the normal operation of transportation, warning of possible conflicts if the tax agreement harms workers again.
The strike measure will affect services buses, trains, subways and planesalso adding the Maritime and River Union Federation (FESIMAF)which called for a mobilization in front of Congress for Tuesday, April 30 at 10:00 a.m., attending only to emergencies during that day.
The decision of the union organizations responds to concern about the impact that the proposed tax reform may have on workers’ pockets, and seeks to make visible the sector’s rejection and demands regarding decisions that affect their working and salary conditions.
