A charred body appeared this Wednesday morning in a vacant lot located in the Sagrada Familia neighborhood, in San José, which is usually frequented by street dwellers.

Marlon Segura, director of the Public Force, indicated that the presence of the human remains was confirmed by agents who went to the site after receiving an alert.

The identity of the deceased is unknown. Segura indicated that a fire broke out on the land where he was found the night before, which extinguished itself.

This fact adds one more victim to the violent night of last Tuesday, which left four other people murdered in two different incidents.

Around 9:30 pm, the Red Cross received a report of a triple homicide in La Cruz de Guanacaste. There were three men, whose identities have not been revealed, lying with gunshot wounds on the street.

Shortly before, at 8 pm, a man between 20 and 30 years old was shot dead twice in Nosara de Nicoya, also in the province of Guanacaste.

Counting these four deaths, the country accumulates 293 homicides throughout 2024. If the person found in Sagrada Familia was also murdered, the figure would rise to 294.

The most affected province is San José, with 74 cases, followed by Limón (64), Puntarenas (55), Alajuela (34), Cartago (29), Guanacaste (26) and Heredia (11).
