Municipalities of Casanare unite for security in the south of the department

The municipalities of Monterrey, Tauramena, Villanueva and Sabanalarga joined together in a regional security council to strengthen the fight against crime, especially cattle rustling in the south of the department of Casanare.

The meeting held on April 28 and chaired by the Secretary of Government of Casanare, Julio Ramos Prieto, had the participation of General Walther Giraldo, commander of the VIII Division of the National Army, mayors, Prosecutor’s Office, Police, Immigration, among other key actors.

Among the notable conclusions are:

  • The presentation of the security regionalization strategy by the Mayor’s Office of Monterrey.
  • The commitment of the Government of Casanare to support the regional technical tables in the south of the department.
  • The programming of criminal mediation and restorative justice sessions by the Prosecutor’s Office for Monterrey.
  • The prioritization of rustling as a crime to investigate in Monterrey.
  • The continuous support of the National Army in security strategies for the region.
  • The active integration of the National Police and Colombian Immigration in initiatives to guarantee citizen rights.
  • Carrying out a study on telecommunications in the region.
  • The official installation of the southern Casanare regional security table, extending the invitation to other municipalities.

The secretary of the departmental Government highlighted the importance of replicating this initiative in other areas of the department, while the mayor of Monterrey emphasized the need to invest in security and work together to protect citizens.
