Cordova. The Public Services Regulatory Entity (Ersep) analyzes a new increase in the intercity transport fare, which would be between 11 and 19 percent.
The increase would not have to do with the salary agreement reached with the drivers, but with the increase in the operating costs of the service, among which personnel is a percentage.
It should be remembered that, so far in 2024, intercity transportation increased 270 percent -after the elimination of national and provincial subsidies-.
Discounts and promotions.
According to what was reported, Ersep will allow companies to establish discounts and promotions for those who travel outside peak times, but the ticket will not be increased during high demand hours since users – workers or students – cannot modify the entry and exit times of jobs or educational institutions.
The objective is to discourage those who can manage their schedules from using these services during peak hours and from doing so during times of less demand, decompressing the system. It would be the companies themselves that define whether they apply the discount or promotion.
On the other hand, the Provincial Transportation Secretariat is studying returning to the scheme that operated until 2015, by which interurban buses could pick up passengers at stops within the capital’s ejido. In this way, the situation of the corridors that the former Ersa that today operates the municipal company Tamse would be decompressed.
Thus, in the North – Av. corridors. La Voz del Interior-, South –Valparaíso- and West –Colón-, the interurban routes would have stops every 10 or 15 blocks, but they would be “differential” and could charge a rate of up to double the urban rate.
