In the morning hours of this Wednesday, May 1, the district mayor installed the regular session of the Council, where he presented for study and approval the draft agreement for adoption of the Development Plan “Riohacha Sana y Socialmente Sostenible 2024 – 2027.”
Mayor Genaro Redondo Choles He began his speech by highlighting the importance of honoring Labor Day and recognizing the fundamental role of Riohacheros workers in the development of the city.
On the other hand, the president highlighted that the Development Plan is the result of work carried out hand in hand with the people, in which various sectors of the community participated. Likewise, this document covers key areas such as infrastructure, public services, health, mobility and tourism.

In addition, he highlighted the collaboration with the departmental and national government to promote initiatives such as the improvement of the aqueduct and sewage system, the construction of the wastewater treatment plant, and the strengthening of health infrastructure, with the creation of new centers. care in underserved areas.
The mayor also announced plans to improve urban mobility, promote tourism and sports, and revitalize the city’s public space and highlighted Riohacha’s intention to become a prominent tourist destination, capitalizing on its natural resources and sports potential.
Redondo Choles concluded his intervention by urging a constructive and participatory debate in the Council, with the objective of ensuring that the development plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the Riohachera community, and that it becomes an engine for the progress and prosperity of the city.
