Two buses collided this Thursday morning at the intersection of 9 de Julio Avenue and Juncal Street, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Retiro. At least 7 people were injured in the collision.

The accident, which occurred around 5 in the morning, was caused by a unit from line 67 and another from line 101. One of the vehicles ended up on the sidewalk, knocking down a public lighting column and it was also determined that it was The second bus was the one that crossed the red light.

Members of the Central Avenues Division of the City Police and SAME personnel arrived at the scene and assisted 10 people at the scene and referred another 6 to the Rivadavia and Fernández hospitals. The accident occurred in the south direction and caused delays in entering the center of Buenos Aires through Avenida del Libertador and the Illia highway. With the intervention of the East Flagrancy Unit, police sources confirmed that the arrest of both drivers was ordered and that they be subjected to a breathalyzer test.

Also this Thursday morning, a cyclist was run over by a bus in the Sarmiento Park area. The accident occurred in the General Paz collectorate at 4600, towards the Río de La Plata, and the victim had to be referred to the Pirovano Hospital.

Additionally, in the early morning another crash occurred in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Riachuelo, involving a Volkswagen Bora and a Chevrolet vehicle. The incident, which occurred at the intersection between General Paz and Cruz, ended with three people injured, one of them seriously.

Firefighters had to extract the Bora’s passenger, who had been trapped by the crash, so they had to remove the vehicle’s door.
