Policarpa – Nariño
According to the authorities’ report, an army patrol was the target of an attack approximately 7 kilometers from the urban area of Policarpa. The event generated moments of tension and fear among the local community.
However, the rapid response and territorial control by the army allowed no fatalities or injuries to be recorded, both among the civilian population and among the military forces.
The commander of the Police in Nariño Darío Montenegro announced that sReinforcement measures have been implemented in the area, with permanent presence of the Police and the Army, with the aim of guaranteeing security and preventing future attacks.
Likewise, work is being done in coordination with human rights groups to monitor the situation and prevent possible displacement of people from rural areas to urban areas in search of security.
What results have the security reinforcements given?
In development of military operations in the Santander de Policarpa village, They found an illegal warehouse that contained 21 handmade ammunition or grenades, known as tatucos, which apparently belong to the Franco Benavides structure, of the Central General Staff of the FARC.
According to the Army, the explosives and demolitions team carried out the controlled destruction of the grenades.
