A birthday celebration in Cúcuta ended in tragedy, two men died after being shot and one more was injured. Alleged members of the Aragua Train would be behind this event.
Deiner Ernesto Romero Paéz and Daniel Páez Romero were shot to death when they were celebrating the birthday of a relative, in the city of Cúcuta, Norte de Santander. The authorities are continuing the search for those responsible for this double crime.
It was 1:15 am last Wednesday, May 1, when Several men appeared in the sector known as Las Minas, right on intersection 17 and 0 street, in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood. The strangers and the victims would have exchanged a few words and then the attack occurred.
Deiner Ernesto died at the scene after being shot three times; while Daniel Paéz was hit, another 19-year-old young man was also injured.

“They were sitting on the porch of the house, having some drinks, they were happy.when the guys with guns arrived and managed to talk for a few minutes, but we don’t know what they said to them,” he told The opinion a witness to the event.

While the two injured young people were helped and taken to the Basic Unit of Loma de Bolívar, where Daniel Páez died due to the severity of the wound. The other young man continues under medical observation.

The residents of the sector alerted the Cúcuta Metropolitan Police (Mecuc) about what happened, but when they arrived at the site, only They found the body of Romero Páez, accompanied by graffiti that said “Get out of the Aragua Train.”
Minutes later, the Interinstitutional Homicide Brigade (Brinho) to carry out the technical inspection of the scene and the removal of the body. At the scene they found 10 vanillas and three projectiles.
“Some surrounding houses were also painted with messages that said ‘In unity with the community, command of the people‘” added the neighbor.
Although the incident is the subject of investigation, the authorities do not rule out the possibility that it could be a fight for control of the territory.
According to the community of Pueblo Nuevo, The victims made their living washing vehicles. in an establishment located in the La Ceiba neighborhood, and a year ago they had come to live rented to the sector.
