For months now, the Government of Mendoza, through Aysam prepares the ground to begin measuring water consumption in some residential areas of the province. In 2023 the purchase of 20,000 will be completed meters and in the last few days their installation began. Aysam confirmed that it has already installed 500 on a pilot basis and now the rest remains.

The area in which they will be placed is the area supplied by the basin Benegas (Rodríguez Peña, East Access (south side), South Access – Uspallata street and Escorihuela alley), this covers most of Guaymallén and a small area of ​​Godoy Cruz and Maipu.

They are looking for the new material for the meters to be plastic so they cannot be stolen due to the copper boom.

“This project is very important for the control of the use of the resource water, it is a “turnkey” system. It includes the provision and installation of equipment, devices and associated collection software, for which planned interventions will be carried out on public roads,” they highlighted from Aysam officially.

The meters They are made of plastic materials and have high efficiency, guaranteeing an accurate reading with no margin of error. In addition, they have security systems that emit an alarm in the event of any attempt at external manipulation. The acquisition and import of the meters was carried out directly by Aysam at a cost of U$D 2,068,745.

The company that is carrying out the placement of the meters is Fabri SA – Yutong SA- UTE. This placement was awarded through Public Tender No. 15/21, with a contract amount of U$D 4,784,427. Total investment: U$S 6,853,172.

From the installation of the meter, Aysam will invoice clients in the fixed fee plus excess system (Art. 39 tariff regime), where each property is assigned a consumption base and the excess will be invoiced on said base if it is exceeded.

“To know how much water is incorporated into the basin and how much comes out and, in order to be able to prepare a precise water balance, the placement of ultrasonic macro meters is planned on two aqueducts, and in the 6 boreholes that supply the basin. This will have a budget of U$D 2,800,000 (VAT included). This macro-measurement system will be put out to tender in the coming months,” reported from the institution chaired by Humberto Mingorance.

“In this way a reduction in the consumption home and there will be the first macro and micro measured area in the province, which will allow water income and real consumption to be quantified, which will allow the evaluation of the basin and will make it possible to search for losses for subsequent repair or renewal of pipes” , they noted in an official statement.
