He Potosino Business Council announced that it will carry out the first citizen debate between the candidates for mayor of San Luis Potosí, which will take place on May 16 at 6:00 p.m. in it Hotel City Plus.

The six candidates for mayor will participate in this debate: Angeles Hermosillo Housesof the New Alliance Party; Sebastian Perez Garciaof Citizen movement; José Luis Chalita Manzurstandard bearer of the local party Popular Consciousness; Luis Eduardo Egure Hernandezcandidate of Social Meeting Party; Enrique Francisco Galindo Ceballosfrom the coalition “Strength and Heart for San Luis”; and Sonia Mendoza Diazbacked by the coalition “Let’s continue making history”.

Hector D’Argence, leader of the Business Council, highlighted the importance of this democratic exercise, since its objective is to provide citizens with tools to make informed decisions and cast a reasoned vote. At a crucial moment like this, the active participation of all citizens of San Luis Potosí is sought.

“The debate will comply with the regulations established by the State Electoral and Citizen Participation Council,” he announced.

The central topics of the debate will focus on the local economy and strategies to improve the conditions of micro, small and medium-sized businesses in the city will also be discussed.

Additionally, the support and promotion necessary to strengthen the business sector will be addressed.

The situation of agricultural areas will also be analyzed, especially those that still maintain these activities and whose development is essential to avoid migration to the city and family disintegration due to poverty and economic inequality.

A primary issue will be the water crisis that affects the capital due to the permanent drought. In addition, security strategies and proposals to improve the urban development of the town will be addressed.

For its part, Norma Angélica Chávez Hernándeza member of the Council, emphasized that the candidates must focus on the proposals and avoid smear campaigns during the debate.

“This event represents a valuable opportunity for citizens to learn about the candidates’ positions and make informed decisions ahead of the elections. The Potosino Business Council hopes that this debate contributes to the strengthening of local democracy and the well-being of the community.”
