Stories of Our Earth Contest awarded talented artists from Los Ríos

Contest, organized by Minagri and Fucoa, awarded distinctions to children, adolescents and adults in the categories of Stories, Poetry and Drawing.

Rescuing traditions, customs, myths and legends that are part of the cultural fabric of our country, especially in rural areas, is the objective of the Stories of Our Land contest of stories, poems and drawings, whose regional winners of the XXI edition were awarded during this day of Thursday, May 2.

This traditional contest, promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Agricultural Communications, Training and Culture Foundation (Fucoa), awarded distinctions to talented and creative boys, girls, adolescents and adults, from the communes of Valdivia, Panguipulli, La Unión, Río Bueno, Corral and Mariquina.

In the activity, headed by the Seremi of Agriculture, Jorge Sánchez Slater, and the Seremi of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, Óscar Mendoza Uriarte, it was also reported that applications for the new call of the contest, at www.historiasdenuestratierra.cl.

During the ceremony at the Valdivia River Space, the Seremi of Agriculture pointed out that for this Government it is important to highlight the work that is carried out in rural areas, both in the productive and cultural aspects.

“We believe that this initiative that the Ministry of Agriculture is carrying out through Fucoa is very important and where we can share experiences and literature with children, young people and actors from the rural world, which makes us know and understand the culturality that we are developing in the rural sectors of our region,” Jorge Sánchez stressed.

One of the winners was Fernando Valenzuela Ruiz, from La Unión, who obtained third place nationally and first regional place in Poetry, but was also third in Stories for Ages 14 and up.

“It is like an act of tenderness every time we receive recognition, whether intimately or publicly. It is very important and especially in this contest, which takes a lot of time. And those of us who write are chasing contests, since it is the possibility of winning, but above all receiving that act of tenderness,” stressed the 43-year-old writer and watchmaker.
