The Colombian Football Federation confirmed this Thursday, April 2, the hiring of Cesar Torres as the new coach of the national team in the Under-20 category.
Torres arrives to replace Hector Cardenas who qualified for last year’s World Cup, but who stepped aside due to the failure in the last Pre-Olympic.

Torres was an assistant to Luis Alberto Suárez, Nelson Abadía and Arturo Boyacá, but his coaching career began at Centauros de Villavicencio (2007-2008), passing through clubs such as Universitario de Popayán (2012-2013 and 2013 to 2018), Deportes Quindío ( 2013), Alianza Petrolera now Alianza FC (2020 and 2023-2024), Jaguares FC (2021-2022), Cortuluá (2022) and Bogotá FC (2023).
At the training level he was national runner-up in the youth category with the Selection of Valle del Cauca.
The 47-year-old from Cali will take possession of the national team as of today and will focus on preparing for the South American of the category in 2025, which will be played in Peru and will grant a place in the Fifa World Cup.
