The Government of Gustavo Petro has just announced the creation of a technical panel to investigate the allegations against officials of his administration within the corruption scandal in the National Disaster Risk Management Unit (UNGRD).
In addition to the United States Government, It was announced that the Transparency Secretariat will lead said table to establish what happened in collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office.
Chats between Olmedo and Idárraga?
However, José Moreno, representative of the former director of the UNGRD, Olmedo López, has just asked that Andrés Idárraga, secretary of Transparency of the Presidency, be removed from that technical table.
According to Moreno, They have chats between Olmedo López and the senior official where the latter would be asking for appointments for mayors and even quotas in the entity.
”The technical defense of Mr. Olmedo López requests that the Secretary of Transparency, Andrés Idárraga, be removed from the technical committee, since this person made several requests to my client, including the attention of several mayors in the context of possible trafficking. of influences which rests on chats that are currently being extracted by our forensic investigators and that will be provided in due course to the Attorney General’s Office. We cannot form a technical committee in which we do not have the right people for it, otherwise it will be a salute to the flag,” says Olmedo López’s defense.
Idárraga’s response
EL TIEMPO contacted the Secretary of Transparency to find out his reaction to Olmedo’s accusations.
”For him to publish them (the chats), I have no idea what he is talking about. I have nothing more to say, I am calm and they are upset because I was the one who reported them criminally,” said Idárraga.
And he added: “Mr. Olmedo never answered the phone when I contacted him to go in to investigate what was happening at the UNGRD.”
