Quibdó, Chocó. April 30, 2024. The representative of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in Colombia, Gina Tambini Gómez, together with the Organization’s team in the territory, participated in the installation of the Pacific Table-Chocó Chapter of the System National International Cooperation, a space promoted by the Foreign Ministry, the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation of Colombia (APC) and the National Planning Department, as a result of joint work with the Government of Chocó, the Mayor’s Offices, the Official Aid cooperators for Development and Multilateral Agencies.
According to the ACP, it is a tool that will allow establishing joint actions and goals to prioritize, mobilize and leverage resources that promote territorial projects and initiatives in favor of the development of the Department.
“Our commitment is to continue joining efforts with national, regional and local authorities, always hand in hand with the communities, to bring health services closer to the territories, without anyone being left behind and in consistency with the cooperation with a territorial approach of the PAHO in which Chocó is one of the prioritized departments,” said the representative of PAHO/WHO Colombia, Gina Tambini Gómez, during her speech at the Roundtable.
The coordination of international cooperation for the development of the territory is one of the key axes of the Chocó Development Plan presented by the governor of the department, Nubia Carolina Córdoba.
The ACP highlighted that the Pacific-Chocó Chapter Table of the National System of International Cooperation is the first to be installed at the territorial level and has among its objectives to strengthen subnational diplomacy to contribute to the generation of decent living opportunities for vulnerable communities. The facility will allow the involvement of new collaborators in the management and development of projects in the Department and will serve to diversify the cooperation offer.
