The Uruguay River began to rise due to the rains and the flow evacuated by the Salto Grande dam. In this context, eight families have already been evacuated in Concordia and the municipality asks residents not to circulate in the coastal area.

The information was confirmed from the Emergency Operations Center by Mayor Francisco Azcué. The work continues this Monday, with actions carried out between the different areas of the Municipality of Concordia, Armed Forces, Security, Volunteer Firefighters and intermediate institutions.

In an official statement, Azcué indicated that “8 families have been evacuated and housed in private homes.” “These evacuations were made after receiving the request for assistance to number 103”accurate.

The municipality also clarified that so far no family had to be transferred to the evacuee centers arranged by the Municipality.

This Monday, municipal teams and vehicles will continue with the response plan according to the situations that arise.

The height of the Uruguay River in front of the Port of Concordia is 11.35 meters while that of the Salto Grande Lake Reservoir is 32.23 meters.

Do not travel along the coast

On the other hand, Mayor Azcué asked the community not to travel through the Costanera area both for safety reasons and to avoid situations that put the physical integrity of people at risk and also not to interfere in the evacuation and preventive tasks that they are carried out on the spot.

Regarding the behavior of the river for the next few hours, from the Hydrology area of ​​the Mixed Technical Commission of Salto Grande, in the report issued at 3:00 p.m. this Sunday, May 5, it was reported that until the 15th hour of On Monday, May 6, the maximum levels will not exceed the following values:

-11.70 meters in the Port of Concordia.

-11.90 meters in the Port of Salto (ROU).

-The level of the reservoir will tend to be 30.80 meters.
