The infection control nurse at the Hospital de Niño Jesús, Carolina Trejo, said that organizing this type of initiative is a way for the work team to renew commitment to the hand hygiene campaign: “It is hard work that we carry out.” Within our institution, we have been holding workshops for all services and we invite each room that presents its stand with creativity through games and videos to participate once again.”

This year’s motto aims to share knowledge, convey to patients and their mothers the importance of hand hygiene, especially for the prevention of infections associated with health care: “With the support of the Nursing Department, the direction of the effector and the management, we have been able to put together a nice day for the patients and for the hospital community. The stands have hand hygiene workshops, games for children with prizes, we have supplies or products for the same and a teaching box so that the staff can see the correct hand washing technique.”

The head of the Nursing Department, Adriana García, congratulated the entire Infectious Diseases service team, especially the infection control nurses, Carolina Trejo and Gabriela García: “It is an arduous task that they have been carrying out so that it can be To achieve this, there is great participation, especially from nursing from their different wards. We always adhere to this date, activities are already being carried out, on-site training reaching each service and it is a great effort because there are only two infection control nurses for this institution, but they always manage to get closer to the goal they set for themselves. ”.

Finally, the director of the Hospital del Niño Jesús, Dr. Inés Gramajo, emphasized that it is encouraged to continue working hard on prevention and hand washing to avoid infections and the use of antimicrobials: “We know perfectly well that this is a daily nursing job. , to raise awareness among employees, parents and patients that, if they do not take this precaution of hand washing and hygiene, they encourage contamination.”
