The soldiers carried out operations in the rural area of Silvia, Cauca, to protect the population
In the village of Golondrinas, rural area of Silvia, Cauca, Army troops were attacked with improvised explosive devices, by members of the residual organized armed group Dagoberto Ramos, belonging to the self-proclaimed EMC. These devices were launched indiscriminately, putting the population living in the area at risk, which could cause damage to these communities.
In these events, unfortunately, they were murdered. the professional soldiers Francisco Hidalgo Cortés, who had belonged to the institution for three years and Marden Calambas Yalanda, with 24 in the Army. Likewise, the explosive wave stuns two of our professional soldiers who were treated in a timely manner.
The immediate reaction of the troops made it possible to repel the attack of this illegal armed group in this area that is configured as an important drug trafficking route, being used by this residual structure as a mobility corridor towards the municipalities of Jambaló, Caldono, Corinto and Toribío.
The Army will make a multidisciplinary team available to families for their support and accompaniment
The National Army regretted the murder of the professional soldiers Hidalgo and Calambas, and also sends a respectful message of solidarity and condolences to their families and relatives at this time that mourns the institution.
The Third Division of the National Army rejects the use of this type of explosive devices that violate human rights and transgresses international humanitarian law, due to the use of unconventional means and methods of war, and will file the respective complaints with the competent authorities.

Offensive operations against this residual structure continue in the area on a sustained basis, and with the support of aircraft from the Colombian Air Force, the aim is to counteract the criminal actions of this group, block their mobility routes for drug trafficking and other actions that affect the security of the communities in this area of the department.
