The security panorama is really complex in the southwest of the country. The FARC dissidents have expanded their operations in multiple areas of Cauca, leading numerous confrontations with the public force in recent weeks.
Precisely, those confrontations left one of the most tragic scenes in recent months, when uniformed members of the National Army called on the institution’s high command to provide support in the midst of a combat in which there were approximately 150 criminals against a few more than 10 members of the public force in rural areas of Algeria, Cauca.

However, this episode, which left four soldiers dead, represented only one of the violent acts that have been recorded in that population recently. And in one of the cases reported in the last few hours, Residents of the town of El Plateado, in an urban area of the same municipality, reported an explosion in a home in the sector.
According to reports on social networks, the explosion occurred on the afternoon of May 6, 2024, in a property where members of the Carlos Patiño front, one of the strongest dissidents in the area, had been present.
In a video you can see how the explosion destroyed the aforementioned house, where the criminals would have left the detonators that, finally, exploded. Although there is no official confirmation of what happened, There are versions that suggest that the events left several people injured, however, no figures are yet known in this regard.
The explosion was announced just minutes after the authorities confirmed that Two soldiers were murdered in the rural area of Silvia, Cauca. This attack would have been perpetrated by members of the Dagoberto Ramos structure, of the Central General Staff of the FARC dissidents.
Apparently, the criminals threw explosives against a group of uniformed officers who were carrying out security and civil protection tasks in the area, causing the death of two of them, as well as health problems in two more.
The dissidents would have used a type of explosives known as tatucos to attack the soldiers, in the midst of the operations that are taking place in response to the murder of the four members of the public force in Argelia, Cauca.
And such events are recorded in the midst of the controversy that has been generated after it became known that the death of the four soldiers would have been caused, among multiple factors, by the lack of support from the Military Forces.
Even, as heard in some audios that went viral on social networks, The uniformed men who confronted the dissidents alleged to their companions that they “let them die”. In the message it is clearly heard that the soldiers expected the worst when they found themselves cornered by the FARC dissident militants.
“Herrera, they let us die guevón. We have been in very hard combat for three hours. They let us die“says one of the soldiers as the sound of gunshots is heard.
Furthermore, in the audios, one of the uniformed men assured that there were only 15 members of the public force who were facing 150 insurgents belonging to the Central General Staff (EMC). In fact, the ambushed soldier assured his colonel that they were surrounded by criminals, which was why he could not obey an order they had given him.
“My colonel, we cannot jump into the hole because they have us surrounded at all points. If we jump into the hole they will kill us all,” the soldier mentioned.
Later, the colonel asked the soldier: “Then where can you defend yourself? Evasion and escape, jump into the hole.”
After the colonel’s response, the soldier ends the communication by saying: “My colonel, if I jump into the hole, they will kill me, they will kill me. Rodríguez is taken, we are all taken by all the points.”
