In recent days, La Rioja created an extraordinary contribution from Large Taxpayers, who will contribute 25% of the determined Gross Income tax for those who declare a monthly turnover equal to or greater than 200 million pesos. With this decision, the provincial government sought to consolidate a solidarity fund destined for the Rioja Food Program.

In this context, the governor Ricardo Quintela confirmed, in the last few hours, that it will extend this contribution to officials, judges and deputies. “With this we want to guarantee that school cafeterias function normally, and we want these funds to serve a sector of society that demands them. We must guarantee the nutrition of the children, who the Nation cut“said the Rioja president, as expressed on the Rioja Virtual portal.

Through Law 10,699, which extends the social, food, health, economic, financial, labor, productive, water, administrative, housing, security and public services emergency in the province, La Rioja provided for the specific allocation of the resources collected, creating the Solidarity Fund for Food Management (FOSGA), through which it must contribute to the financing of public food policies, specifically the PAR.

The extraordinary contribution that these companies will pay will be paid on the advances of May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December of the year 2024. Those considered large taxpayers who declare a monthly billing equal to or greater than 200 million pesos must pay an extra 25% of the determined Gross Income tax.

I don’t know if they agree. It’s Law, you have to be supportive. Those who have more should collaborate with those who have less, at least for a glass of milk.“said Quintela.

Finally, the governor reflected: “There is a society that demands a lot, but does not want to contribute almost anything, fundamentally those who have the most. We want them to contribute a little, they are not going to become poorer“.

Suspended funds

The government of Javier Mileiso far in 2024, suspended the School Food Service Program (SAE), so it was the decision of the provincial government to prioritize financing with its own funds. This food policy reaches initial, primary and secondary schools located in rural areas throughout the province, as well as certain schools in urban areas that are in a special context of social vulnerability..

Through this decision 335 school cafeterias are covered and an enrollment of 11,650 studentswho receive lunch from Monday to Friday during the school period to guarantee proper nutrition while studying.

In this context, The contribution made by large companies is a key strategy for financing the PAR, in order to promote greater food security for the school community and youth..

Besides, The provincial government decided to accompany private companies in the province due to the huge increase in the electricity rate, which was a great incentive for large taxpayers who received bills with up to 400% increase due to the high rate.
