Uruguay and Argentina defined their bilateral cooperation agenda and work guidelines for the coming months, after the celebration of the Third Meeting of the Argentine-Uruguayan Integration Commission (CIAU), which took place this Monday in Montevideo.
He Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nicolás Albertonireceived his Argentine counterpart Leopoldo Sahoreswith the aim of deepening the agenda that concerns both countries for the rest of the year.
The meeting took place at the Palacio Santos, headquarters of the MRREE, and highlighted the progress of the conversations to improve the navigability of the Paraguay-Paraná waterwayand it was agreed to hold meetings this year of the Joint Commission for Scientific and Technological Cooperation and Consular Cooperation, as well as to begin the Bilateral Ocean Dialogue Mechanism from an in-person meeting at the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA).

On the other hand, the diplomats exchanged about the importance of strengthening the Antarctic Treaty Systemwith the aim of consolidating the white continent as an area dedicated to science and peaceful coexistence.
In this sense, they highlighted the importance of continuing to work together and maintaining cooperation in scientific and logistical matters. At the same time, it was proposed that both countries coordinate positions before the Antarctic forums.
Regarding the borders between both nations, the vice-chancellors positively valued the integration of the towns on both sides of the Uruguay River and assumed the commitment to bring together the Cooperation Commission for the Development of Uruguay-Argentina Border Areas (Codefro).
Finally, Sahores thanked Uruguay for its permanent support for the Argentine position in the Malvinas Questionboth at the bilateral level and in what was expressed in the main multilateral and regional forums.
