Like every year around this time, the Cuban archipelago hosted the most important professional event in the national tourism industry. In this case, the 42nd edition of the Tourism Fair, FitCuba 2024, took place from May 1 to 5 in Jardines del Rey and was dedicated to Latin America and the Caribbean.

“More than 500 tour operators attended and it was established as a fundamental space for the exchange, socialization of knowledge and the renewal and signing of old contracts and new ones,” said the top manager of the branch in Sancti Spíritus.

The province, he affirms, was represented by two of the great traditions of craftsmanship that distinguish it: on the one hand, we brought the Santander family, famous for its tradition of potters, and, on the other, Yudit Vidal Faife, the renowned artist of the plastic, who showed her project Between threads, wings and brushes, where Trinidadian art and lingerie hybridize.

With the flag of the agency they represent, the two Trinidadians received their awards.

“We took advantage of the visits made to our stall by the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Tourism to present the work carried out by Trinidad and the entire province in order to promote the tourism industry. We also showed our facilities inside, improvements that were made and the potential of nature tourism,” he added.

It is worth highlighting the first grand prize won by a worker from the Meliá Trinidad Península hotel in classic gastronomy and the first place won by a worker from Memories Trinidad del Mar in artistic cuisine. Furthermore, during the event it was made official that flights from China to the country will begin on May 17, which will be an incentive for the current low tourist season.

“I think the last edition of FitCuba exceeded everyone’s expectations. Among the new contracts that we signed, I would like to recognize the one that the tourism branch school with all its training centers signed with Cape Verde. This will give us the possibility for our teachers to go and improve themselves in the African nation, while theirs enter our country with the same intention, which will not only provide a greater educational experience, but will show us exactly where the know how of the sector in the world”, concluded the manager.
