Dr. Gustavo Fricke Hospital gave a warm welcome to the more than 30 scholarship students who today joined the ranks of the Viña del Mar Quillota Petorca Health Service, for 3 years. Students from the University of Valparaíso will be trained in the specialties of: anesthesia, adult surgery, imaging, internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics and traumatology.

All of these are areas of complexity and great importance when the health sector tries to strengthen patient care, whose complexity has been increasing. The Director (S) Juan Carlos Gac, During the ceremony, he delivered some heartfelt words dedicated to professionals in training. “Apart from being one of the most important hospitals in the network, the Base Hospital of the Viña de Mar Quillota Health Service is also a teaching care hospital and in that sense we are very happy to receive the scholarship recipients who for three years years they will develop the time to specialize and contribute to public health within the same hospital later or they will settle within the network or outside the network for this. So I just wish them the best and that they learn everything necessary, the country is waiting for it and public health will be very happy to receive them.”

Another of the authorities present was Dr. Tatiana Aldunate, Deputy Medical Director of the Hospitalwho highlighted the teaching work of the Fricke. “I think it is a special day because it is the first day of every year that we receive the scholarship recipients who are going to train with us and who ensure quality care in our network. We also remind ourselves that apart from having a healthcare function, the other function is teaching and for years we have been the trainers of all the doctors who later specialize here and continue in the other establishments of the network, so it is a very special day.”

From the Directorate of the Viña del Mar Quillota Petorca Health Servicethis milestone was valued, especially for the positive impact that the incorporation of professionals will generate in the health network. “This admission of more than 30 scholarship students marks a significant milestone for our base hospital and the health network we serve. Training in key specialties such as anesthesia, adult surgery, imaging, internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics and traumatology not only strengthens our healthcare capacity, but also reflects our continued commitment to excellence in the health care of our users. We look forward to welcoming them and accompanying them on their path to becoming outstanding professionals who will contribute to the well-being of our community and hospital network.”, said Andrea Quiero, Director of the SSVQP.

A support process

Doctor Guillermo Rojas, head of the Teaching Assistance Relations Unit of the Gustavo Fricke Hospital He recalled that when he was a student, he went through the same stage, where there was still no unit to which he could turn to resolve doubts. “Always an encouragement. I, well, went through the same stage. I was a primary scholar of internal medicine after urology, therefore, at that time there was no unit that had this level of coordination, both with the university and the service, and that helps a lot when you arrive, you arrive quite disoriented and always This type of reception helps.”

Today’s severe users have many comorbidities, which leads us as a hospital – and the one with the highest complexity in the integrated network made up of 11 hospitals – to the need to strengthen more and better professionals. Fernanda Larco is one of the scholarship recipients who enters the specialty of family medicine. She stated that the induction was very complete and will help her get started in this process.

“I thought it was very good, very good with all the content that one needs to be able to start. Obviously there is a lot left to do because there are many documents to read and everything, but it seemed very good to me.” Sebastian Sepúlvedaanother of the students who will enter Internal Medicine, highlighted the good reception that the hospital had. “I am nervous, too nervous to start because it is a brutal change from where I come from, but the truth is that I am pleased with how beautiful the hospital is, the good reception and how orderly the induction was. Pretty excited to get started.”
