Air connectivity between Colombia and Chile projects significant growth and opportunities for innovation and expansion

The Civil Aeronautics Analytics Office presents the report on air connectivity between Colombia and Chile, and its evolution over time.

According to the technical publication, relations between Colombia and Chile intensify every day with dynamism and competitiveness, given the impact of new participants in the air market, an occupancy that ranges between 70 and 90%, and the identification of potential routes. that reflect the search for new growth opportunities in the sector.

From the Government of Change and from Civil Aeronautics, the articulated work that has been carried out with the airlines and the industry that permanently carries out actions to connect Colombia with Chile stands out, allowing a scenario of stability in the air market and generating more opportunities for travel to and from both countries, reaching up to 61 weekly frequencies.

According to figures presented by the Civil Aeronautics Analytics Office, four airlines maintain regular operations between Colombia and Chile, with routes that connect Bogotá, Rionegro and Cali with the cities of Santiago and Antofagasta:

  • Avianca, with 43 weekly frequencies
  • Latam Chile, with 29
  • JetSMART Chile with 14
  • Sky Airlines Chile.

The binational relationship in aeronautical matters is so important that only in the last week of March 2024, (Holy Week), the Bogotá – Santiago – Bogotá route, operated by Avianca, reached 21 weekly operations of origin and 22 of destination, as well as such as Latam, which made 15 origin and 14 destination frequencies, generating added value that significantly impacts the air market between both countries.

It is important to highlight the opportunity for significant expansion for airlines on emerging routes in El País de la Belleza such as San Andrés Islands, Barranquilla and the Coffee Region, as well as Punta Arenas in Chile, as a connection of interest for tourism due to its rich diversity of fauna and landscapes.

Without a doubt, generating confidence in the air sector is a commitment of the Government of Change in the interests of providing mixed passenger, mail and cargo services.

Civil Aeronautics will continue to advance approaches with different countries to strengthen ties and increasingly connect Colombia’s destinations with the world.
