This initiative is financed by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage through its Support Program for Collaborating Cultural Organizations

On Thursday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m., CANSANCIO by Espacio Ané will be presented at the IPA Cultural Center. On Saturday, May 11 at 12:00 p.m. there will be a Matinee Performance of I COME TO PUT NOISE by Romera and Chumbeque. Both performances are held within the framework of the Commemoration of Theater Month at the IPA Theater Room, located at Condell 1349, Valparaíso. Reservations must be made via Passline or through Instagram @salateatroipa.

“CANSANCIO” tells the story of the father of a young student, who comes home after the work day. Both are exhausted and exchange slight gestures of affection, crushed by the routine of daily chores.

Danilo Llanos, director of Espacio Ané, considers that the IPA Cultural Center “is one of the few spaces that in its organization has managed to sustain part of the Buenos Aires scene, from training and opening to various artistic expressions. The work, CANSANCIO, has a particular intimacy. In the theater a subversive community is established, we are all together around a different time, which is not the one outside, where we can inhabit the slowness, the loop, the loop, based on the beautiful story of the same name by Fernando Mena.

“VENGO A METER NOISE” is based on the circus show “La Guitarra”, which has more than a hundred years of tradition. In this version Chumbeque learned to play guitar during the pandemic and wants to give us a unique concert, but the clown Romera interrupts him non-stop.

Maju Castro, also known as Payasa Romera, points out: “We are very grateful for the trust in our work. Happy to be able to celebrate Theater Day with the family, may the laughter spread. There is a prejudice regarding the art that we develop, clowning generally moves more in public spaces, and being able to present in the hall makes us very happy. This work has toured a lot, in schools, squares, theaters, circus tents, pedestrians, community spaces and each performance is very different because we build it with the public.”

Theater Month

Claudio Vidal, director of the IPA Cultural Center, comments: “For us as a Cultural Center it is very important to commemorate this month by remembering Andrés Pérez Araya, a great reference in Chilean theater, who worked with the clear conviction of creating theater in the towns. He wanted to take theater out of elite circles. He teased the classics and brought popular characters to the stage, recognizing the value of the culture that we all have. Of course he inspires us, his work is part of our purpose, to stir consciences, to generate spaces of joy and transformation through the performing arts.”

Among the activities to be carried out this month, on Monday, May 13, the IluCión Theater Company is going to present its play “The Registry”, a remuneration activity in Puchuncaví. And on Thursday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m., there will be a collaboration between the IPA Cultural Center and the Sala Negra Juan Barattini Carvelli, the EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING MEDIATION MEETING in the Theater Month “31 YEARS OF CÍA. THEATER ILUcIÓN” resistance management model. Activity with free entry, prior registration to the email [email protected]

The project “CONTINUITY OF THE PROGRAMMING OF THE THEATER ROOM OF THE IPA CULTURAL CENTER: 95 years of local art and culture” is part of the Support Program for Collaborating Cultural Organizations of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, which seeks to strengthen and provide continuity to private and non-profit cultural institutions and organizations. This program is also part of the Financing System for Organizations and Cultural Infrastructure of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage that integrates, articulates and coordinates in a transversal way the plans, programs and funds aimed at the promotion and support of organizations, cultural infrastructure, and artistic mediation. All this with a decentralized vocation, participatory mechanisms, and the promotion of the creation of networks and associations.
