The capture of “El Zarco” occurred after US authorities deported him for having entered illegally to evade Colombian justice.
In a joint operation, the National Police managed to arrest Víctor Alfonso Arguello Sierra, alias “El Zarco”, who was among the most wanted criminals by the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Police.
The man captured today is accused of conspiracy to commit a crime, illegal possession of firearms and aggravated and qualified robbery.
The capture of “El Zarco” occurred after US authorities deported him for having entered illegally to evade Colombian justice. Victor Algonso Arguello was arrested in San Diego, California, on September 12, 2023.
‘El Zarco’ was part of the organized common crime group “Renacer”, dedicated to theft in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga. The captured person is also linked to extortion for the return of stolen goods.
With his capture, it is expected to contain various criminal modalities that have affected coexistence and citizen security in Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area. The detainee was referred to the relevant authorities, who ordered his confinement in a prison.
In this regard, Colonel Henry Yesid Bello Cubides, commander of the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Police, clarified that thanks to an investigative process this capture could be carried out in alliance with international agencies.
“Of the 17 most wanted criminals, who were established in January this year, we have captured three. One of these is El Zarco, who illegally immigrated to the United States. We were able to get him deported and in the last hours he was captured in Bogotá“added the Mebuc commander.
