In this regard, Dr. Gustavo Abrile, Head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Service of the “Dr. Ramón Madariaga”, presented the beginning of the program as a result of his numerous trips around the world in collaboration with the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). This collaboration brought the application idea to the public system within the Provincial Health Park.
“The year 2024 marked a milestone for our training center in Misiones, as we have been training residents from all over the world who will become future plastic surgeons. This year, we also began to receive rotating fellows from abroad, who come for a specific period to become familiar with the procedures we perform in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery,” explained the professional.

“I was especially interested in learning the art of body contouring, something I think I lacked during my residency training. Therefore, I wanted to explore more in the field of cosmetic surgery. That is the reason why I chose Argentina. It is a center for cosmetic surgery procedures and I am very happy to have chosen Posadas for my scholarship,” she highlighted.
For his part, the resident doctor of Turkey, Dr. Abdullah Arslan, commented that “I am currently in my third year of residency in plastic surgery. My passion lies in working with the body, both in body aesthetics and body reconstruction. For those involved in body reconstruction, it is crucial to learn about breast treatment after cancer removal. This ranges from reconstruction of skin cancers, such as malignant melanoma, to procedures to treat ascites and basal cell carcinoma. Therefore, in my training, I seek to acquire knowledge about these techniques.”
Arslan highlighted that in terms of body aesthetics, South America, especially Argentina and Brazil, are recognized for their advances in this field. “For this reason, I decided to do my residency on this continent. Currently, I am working as a resident fellow with Dr. Gustavo Abrile, who is recognized worldwide for his experience in aesthetics and body reconstruction,” he assured.
