The Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), through the Recognition Section, decreed precautionary measures on the San Juan del Cesar cemetery in La Guajira, in which there were allegedly bodies of victims of extrajudicial executions.
“The Jurisdiction found that there are serious risks of conservation of the bodies disposed in this cemetery and this would affect the rights of the victims,” warns the JEP.
In recent days, a humanitarian intervention began in that cemetery, led by the Search Unit for the Disappeared (Ubpd), which will focus on reviews of different vaults where unidentified bodies are stored.
“The bodies that are recovered will be made available to the competent entities so that the process of identification or confirmation of identities can be carried out and the corresponding dignified deliveries can be made to the families,” the jurisdiction stated, after completing the review of the last vault under analysis.
