In Cauca, this company will increase water storage

In Colombia, the situation with water failures, is maintained, even when the rainy season arrived. For this reason, companies decided to increase the water storage capacity. That happened with the Caloto Aqueduct, in the department of Cauca.

Consistent with its purpose of carrying drinking water to the communities near its operation centers, Postobón made available to the community of Caloto, Cauca, a new storage tank of water, with which the capacity of the municipal aqueduct was expanded for the benefit of more than 8,000 people who live in the urban area.

This is how the dollar fell in Colombia for Wednesday, May 8

This new tank, built in alliance with the Caloto Public Services Company (Empocaloto), has a Storage capacity of 630 cubic meters and will allow the total capacity of the aqueduct to be increased 1.5 times, to reach 918 cubic meters of storage. In this way, the community will have water resources available 24 hours a day with better hydraulic capacity and pressure in distribution networks.

Investment to increase water storage capacity

$880 million were invested in this work, of which Postobón contributed $788 million, while Empocaloto contributed the equivalent of $92 million. These were quantified in the batch and in the work audit to increase water storage capacity.

“Our vision of water management It includes the communities surrounding our operations, for whom we strive to ensure that they have the right to the minimum vital amount of water. Under that premise, we contribute with water solutions like the one we are delivering in Caloto, with which, we are completely sure, we will contribute to improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the municipality.”stated Martha Ruby Falla, director of sustainability at Postobón.

It had a water storage capacity of 288 cubic meters and was insufficient for the population’s demand. As a result of this, there were deficiencies in the provision of the service, which forced the constant suspension of the service in the 10 neighborhoods of the municipality that spent an average of 10 days a month without water.

“Thank you Postobón for solving the need for drinking water for the people of Calote. The construction of this tank is a dream come true for a population that deserves great things.”said Oswaldo Velasco Daza, president of the Association of Community Boards of the municipality of Caloto.

In the next few days, Postobón corporate volunteers, along with community members and young artists from the municipality, will intervene on the walls of the tank with allegorical works to care for water. The objective is to generate awareness and improve the physical appearance of this equipment. public services.
