The Cyber Police of San Luis Potosí alerted citizens about new types of fraud that are carried out with Artificial intelligence (AI), in which cybercriminals seek to use your voice or image to commit scams.
AI is a type of technological tool that seeks to enable machines or systems to predict responses or attitudes that human beings would give, or to reproduce images or voices similar to real people.
In recent months, videos or voice audios created with artificial intelligence have been seen; Some of these could be taken as real and used for crimes, so it is necessary to take precautionary measures to prevent cybercriminals from committing scams in our name.
For this, the Cyber Police of San Luis Potosí has issued a series of recommendations so that people are less vulnerable to this type of fraud:
- Limit the amount of personal information shared online and do not trust unknown accounts.
- Do not answer calls from unknown numbers.
- Do not open suspicious links.
- Verify identities of people who call you or send you suspicious messages.
- Regularly update your device’s operating systems and applications.
- Educate yourself about AI and its capabilities.
“Stay alert and protect your personal information. Never share sensitive data with strangers online. If you suspect fraudulent activity, report it immediately. Your online security is our priority,” they shared.
