Another of Sancti Spiritus’ options to reach Paris 2024 disappeared these days when the men’s 4×100 meters quartet failed to qualify for the World Athletics Relay Championships, which were held in the Bahamas.

The Trinidadian sprinter Yaniel Carrero Zambrano ran on that team, with experience in this type of competition due to his participation in the 2014 and 2015 events and a member of the Cuban relay that won silver at the XIX Pan American Games in Santiago 2023, who ran the third leg. in a team also made up of Reinaldo Espinosa, Edel Amores and Shainer Reginfo.

After entering fourth from their qualifying hit on the first date, the Cubans had to go to the repechage a day later and there were their chances, entering seventh with a discreet time of 39.39 seconds.

None of the three Cuban teams were able to get the ticket, since both the 4×100 and the women’s 4×400 were left out of the first eight places.

Designed especially this time to distribute tickets to France, the event granted 14 of the 16 places for the Olympic athletics relay events. The remaining two will be assigned by ranking, but of the Cuban tracks only the 4×400 track has that remote possibility.
