MinEducación and UCC will bring literacy to La Guajira

The Ministry of National Education, in alliance with the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia (UCC) Campus Santa Marta, launched the special integrated school year literacy project CLEI 1, aimed at young people and adults aged 15 years and older in the department of La Guajira.

The launch took place at the Anas Mai socio-cultural and recreational Center in the capital of La Guajira, under the motto “we weave the path to education”, a space attended by the director of the UCC, Adriana Santarelli Franco, who was accompanied of the deputy directors of Academic and Institutional Projection, and of Institutional and Financial Development, Messrs. Juan Alonso Cortés and José Francisco Vergara, respectively.

Likewise, Eliana Nieto, Technical Coordinator of the project, was present; Angélica Solano, Secretary of Education of Fonseca; Andrés Ricardo Romero, Secretary of Education of Uribia; Ana Inciarte, Secretary of Education of Manaure; Licet Amaya, delegate of the Departmental Secretary of La Guajira and virtually, Hernán Darío Parra from the subdirectorate of permanence and Coordinator of the Guajira zone of the Ministry of National Education was present.

The literacy project arises as a strategy of the Ministry of Education framed within the public call for proposals to implement territorial projects to develop cycle 1, with a non-literate population, in territorial entities certified in education, a strategy that promotes access to flexible pedagogical jobs in the population that historically has not had access to quality and relevant education.

According to the Coordinator of the Guajira area of ​​the Ministry of National Education, this project will positively impact more than 2,600 people in this territory, who together with the University will contribute to the training of young people and adults thanks to access to relevant and quality education.

For her part, Adriana Santarelli Franco, director of the UCC Santa Marta, indicated that this project seeks to reestablish the rights to education, an engine for improving people’s living conditions.

He also indicated that education allows the generation of a wealth of knowledge and skills that can be bequeathed to young people and future generations, allowing a state of fulfillment for populations.

This collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the UCC reflects the joint commitment of both institutions to equal opportunities and the comprehensive development of all people, regardless of their age or educational situation.
