At the Sarmiento school, the mayor of the Capital, Eng. Norma Fuentes, participated in the launch event of the 2024 edition of the “Sonrisas Santiagueñas” program, which aims to promote, prevent and provide dental care for the boys and girls of Santiago del Estero.
The ceremony was led by the Minister of Health, Lic. Natividad Nassif; the Undersecretary of Health, Dr. César Monti; the Undersecretary of Education, Prof. Alejandro Píccoli; the director of the “Sonrisas Santiagueñas” program, Dr. Patricia Gadda and the director of the aforementioned educational establishment, José Sabalo.
During the ceremony, brushing techniques were taught, oral hygiene kits were delivered and, in addition, there were artistic performances by the students with messages related to oral health care.
In this sense, the community leader highlighted that the program has been applied for six years in municipal kindergartens.
“These actions of the Ministry of Health are essential to promote personal care in students, understanding that healthy teeth help prevent diseases and other problems that may appear if plaque is not combated.”he indicated.
Engineer Fuentes added: «“This is a program that involves a large investment by the provincial State, which seeks to strengthen public health and assist the people who need it most, such as those who do not have social work.”.
