CAME’s position regarding the national strike

The Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME) publicly expresses that it will not adhere to the national strike called for tomorrow, Thursday, May 9.

While the entity expresses its respect for the right to strike, enshrined in the National Constitution (CN), it warns that the delicate situation of the SME sector – afflicted by the sharp decline in consumption – prevents it from adhering to the general cessation of activities.

The drop in demand, which seriously affects trade and SME industrial production, would be even more aggravated in a scenario of factories and premises closed throughout the day, which would generate large additional economic losses for the sector.

CAME is aware of the difficulties that the country is going through. For this reason, he maintains that SMEs need to work to meet their financial obligations and remain the main generators of registered employment in Argentina.

We are respectful of the decisions of unionism and the right to strike established in the CN. We call for dialogue and consensus among all parties to support the activity, production and sales of all SMEs.

It should be noted that CAME brings together more than 400,000 SMEs from commerce and services, tourism, regional economies, industry and construction throughout the country, which together employ more than 2,500,000 people.
