The Police and Military Forces in Cauca confirmed the capture of one of the noted leaders of the Central General Staff of the FARC in the southwest of the country.
In the midst of the offensive against this illegal organization in the municipality of Algeria, he was arrested by the Army alias ‘Chinga’ who would have arrived in this part of the national territory, from Nariño where Franco Benavides commanded the frontwith the purpose of “supporting” the Carlos Patiño front.
This man would be one of the main people responsible of the attack against a military unit in the Bolivian village where four soldiers were murdered.
Colonel Giovanni Torres, Commander of the Cauca Police Department, reported that “this subject was in Algeria supporting the armed confrontations against the National Army. with 40 members of the armed group Carlos Patiño under his command. She had also served as leader of the Dagoberto Ramos front commission with criminal interference in the municipalities of Caloto, Toribio and Jambalóappointed by alias ‘David o Cholinga’ to lead the commission on which he currently sits.”
The officer confirmed that alias ‘Chinga’ was captured in 2023 in northern Cauca but in the month of July he escaped from the Police Station of the municipality of Santander de Quilichao along with 12 other people.
“According to investigations alias ‘Chinga’ would be the driving force behind selective homicides, extortion charges, among other criminal and terrorist activities against public force devicesthrough attacks on patrol and activation of explosive devices,” the officer added.
Along with this noted ringleader, three other men were captured and the uniformed officers seized abundant war material, including: a rifle, pistols, ammunition and administration material.
