Mining employment in the Province has been growing uninterrupted for more than four years. Data from the last year count 5,857 direct jobs and more than 20,000 indirect jobs are estimated. The figures represent an increase of 40% compared to the same period last year.

This growth is a positive sign for the local economy and reinforces the fundamental role that the mining sector plays in generating employment and developing the province.

Likewise, a significant increase in female mining employment was revealed in Salta, registering more than 1,016 jobs occupied by women in the sector.

This implies a year-on-year growth of 66%, highlighting the efforts of both the public and private sectors to promote inclusion and gender policies in the activity.

Likewise, the Municipality of San Antonio de los Cobres implemented a job bank that currently has 1,500 registered people from the department of Los Andes. Currently, around 70% of that list holds a job position within the sector.

Regarding this information, the Secretary of Mining and Energy Romina Sassarini pointed out that the mining policy promoted by Governor Gustavo Sáenz has been crucial, and that not only the generation of employment is prioritized, but also quality training and policies aimed at continuous improvement. “From the State, and in coordination with the private sector and other entities, we carry out an intensive program of actions to provide training and development opportunities in the communities,” she stated.

Another development parameter is observed in the growth of the Provincial Registry of Local Suppliers of Mining Companies, which already has 520 registered companies. The sector continues to generate quality job opportunities and contribute to the strengthening of the local economy.

It is important to highlight that the local productive fabric is diversified in several services, such as gastronomy, laundry, transportation, among others. The towns of Olacapato, Santa Rosa de los Pastos Grandes, Estación Salar de Pocitos, Tólar Grande and San Antonio de los Cobres offer a wide range of goods and services for mining activity.
