Scheduled for 7:00 p.m., local time, the concert by the popular troubadour promises to be a great event of great artistic flight, which remembers the figure of the National Poet of Cuba.

Also dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the writer Nancy Morejón, who is not attending the event due to work commitments in the United States, this Thursday the theoretical day of the event will be dedicated to the work of the National Literature Prize winner.

In the Villena room of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, this morning the conference “Nicolás Guillén on loves and heartbreaks” by Denia García Ronda will take place; and a little later the panel «New woman. In the 80s of Nancy Morejón”, where the influence of Guillén on the work of the Cuban writer, poet and translator will be analyzed.

Another interesting analysis will come with the conference “Feminine Anthropology in the Poetry of Nicolás Guillén from 1922 to 1943. A Gender Vision”, by José Antonio Cabrera; and in “Black woman as an agent of social change in the work of Nicolás Guillén”, by Kezia Zabrina and Henrry Knight.

This Thursday, other proposals of caliber will be the dissertation «New actors. New rights. Setback in women’s rights”, by Graciela Morales; and the presentation of the results of the project “AfroAtenas, 15 years of community work”, by Rogelio Benavides.

Until tomorrow, the Nicolás Guillén Colloquium and Festival will be developing its academic program and other activities planned for this edition, regarding the 60th anniversary of the poem Tengo, and the 90th anniversary of the publication of the poetry collection West Indies Ltd.

The event is also dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Nicolás Guillén taking over the Pistos Manchegos column in the newspaper El Camagüeyano.
