On Blu Radio, Gómez Pimienta indicated that the Wayuu communities warned the president Gustavo Petro about the resources for the community pots, since they were being administered by political actors from previous governments.

“The president received a complaint from a Wayuu regarding the community pots; that the money was being given to the same corrupt people as always and the president was emphatic that the operation of the community pots should be directly with the organized communities.” , said.

He added that he himself had sent President Petro a letter, in December 2023, warning about political and personal interests with the resources assigned to La Guajira, administered by the former director of the UNGRD. Olmedo Lopez.

“For the humanitarian intervention there was not going to be participation from either the mayor’s offices or the department, however, the director of the UNGRD decided that it was better for the development of the programs, so there was disobedience,” explained the former manager, replicating the Petro’s words about not following his instructions.

Even Gómez Pimienta does not rule out the use of resources from the UNGRD for political interests, because, in his own words, strange things happened with resource allocations.

“With the permission of the president, it was said to deliver five tank cars to each of the municipalities involved, that is, to Riohacha, Uribia, Manaure and Maicao, but suddenly from Bogotá there was a jump and they assigned 25 more tank cars to Uribia and 20 more later, so those were management decisions,” he explained.
