More than 30 students and student leaders from Coyhaique and different parts of the region participated in a novel dialogue in the Regional Government within the framework of the Aysén Extreme Zone Development Plan (PDZE) focused on youth.

Regional Governor Andrea Macías Palma valued the vision delivered by young people from different establishments and localities in the Aysén Region.

«It is the opportunity to be able to get together, share views with our students from different places in the region, from different educational systems as well, who come to show us many things that one does not know about or also many ideas of things that are happening and that with “With efforts or actions that are very quick, they can be solved,” said the highest regional authority.

For her part, the regional counselor of the province of Coyhaique, Paula Acuña, thanked GORE Aysén for this instance to be able to take into consideration the vision of youth when building an investment portfolio for the next ten years.

«Thank the regional government for opening the spaces, especially in the development plan for extreme areas. It is essential that today young people can express their ideas, their desires, but also the needs they have. very happy to have participated in this meeting. For us, this will be fundamental for later when we can make the decision about what works or infrastructure we are going to finance, taking into consideration the dreams of our young people,” he said.

Grishna Stroz, president of the General Student Center of the Juan Pablo II High School, said she looked forward to the materialization of the proposals that were raised and in other Citizen Participation Workshops that she has attended.

«I think it is super important to listen to our voices, but also to find solutions to these problems. I have attended many of these meetings and I really look forward to seeing the resolution of these problems because I am finally in 4th grade, I am getting closer to the workplace and adult life, so I hope to have an adult life in good conditions in My region. “I love my region and I hope for the best.”

Among the ideas expressed by the young people are environmental and human settlement issues, and they valued being able to be heard within the framework of this process. This was revealed by the executive secretary of the General Student Center of the San Felipe Benicio High School, Benjamín Vásquez.

“I think it’s great that people who are part of the regional government are in contact with the people, with those who voted for them, and that these types of projects are opened are super important,” he concluded.

This meeting is added to the already 19 Citizen Participation Workshops that have been held to design the new PDZE Aysén, which have been held in all the communes of the region and with focused groups such as the private sector and now youth. Dialogues with boys and girls, as well as older adults, are scheduled for the next few days.
