“We have been experiencing two months of drop in participation of approximately 20% per month. The drop in collection is also around 50, 60% in the case of Cerrillos. During the first months that we have been receiving the co-participation much higher than expected and with the collection, more than anything from the collection of annual taxes, we were making a reserve to be able to face the obligations that were coming,” stood out.
With the forecasts made, the management managed to recover the Municipality’s Automotive Park and carry out minor works, such as the arrangement of the Municipal Complex, the Disability Center, a Wake Room, street repairs and placement of lights.
“Today there is not much left for you but to make the forecasts when you have some extra income and then go out and ask for help from the province, which, luckily in our case, and I think it is the same with all the mayors, is receiving a lot. support. “We are working jointly with the provincial organizations,” he remarked.
A situation that affects Cerrillos’ collection is the number of new neighbors who were not integrated into the tax system. Regarding this, Borelli reported that the new neighborhoods have already been charged and progress has been made in electronic collections.
“That helped us a lot, and the merchant is also becoming aware, there was also a lot of progress in collecting the automobile tax, because vehicles were transferred there and they were not settled here. And we are reviewing. Each database had a lot of deficiencies, and now we have a team dedicated solely to that, to update the databases of all municipal taxes,” he said.
Municipal Complex Arrangement
Regarding the execution of the work, Borrelli reported that the objective is to try to recover the functionality of the space, since it had been abandoned for many years and basic safety standards were not met in its structure.
“The structures were already all rotten, it was really dangerous for there to be people there. And well, that work was started to recondition it, recover it and the same is being done with the cinema. The complex is a sports complex, but in the front it has a cinema that also serves as a theater,” he explained.
