On the occasion of the celebration of International Museum Day today, Saturday, May 18, Samarians and Magdalenians will be able to visit and tour the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino and the Bolivarian Museum of Contemporary Art.

The Fundación Museo Bolivariano de Arte Contemporáneo-Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino offers free admission this Saturday with just presentation of your ID, while national and foreign tourists will pay half price.

From 9:00 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon, the emblematic historical place will be open to the public so that students, university students and Samarian families can schedule a different day getting to know the beauties of this heritage of the Samarians, Magdalenians. and Colombians.

In addition, starting at 8:00 am, a special yoga routine class will be offered by Bash Yoga and its director David Bedoya, who will have a series of recommendations on this day of well-being for all families who visit the Museum.

After the declaration by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in 1977, this date unites each year, through a varied cultural and educational agenda, the museum community of more than 150 countries and territories. Last year more than 37,000 museums around the world participated.

It is worth mentioning that the 2024 version of International Museum Day has as its theme: “Museums for education and research” which highlights the fundamental role of cultural institutions in providing a holistic educational experience. This day advocates for a more conscious, sustainable and inclusive world.

Museums are dynamic educational centers that encourage curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. In 2024, Museums and their education initiatives are recognized for their contribution to research, providing a platform for the exploration and dissemination of new ideas.

From art and history to science and technology, museums are vital spaces where education and research converge to shape our understanding of the world.

In this way, the Bolivarian Museum of Contemporary Art-Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino celebrates the initiatives of its Department of Education, which for more than 20 years has led actions and dynamic initiatives, making this place a great classroom of knowledge and knowledge, opening up learning possibilities. to official and private educational institutions, higher and technical education centers and non-profit educational organizations that recognize the Museum as a place where thinking, creativity and training are promoted.
