Yully Maritza Rubio Roa’s farewell caravan left before 5 pm, this Friday, May 17, from the Los Olivos Funerary to the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús Catholic temple, also known as San Pedro church in the Sotomayor neighborhood of Bucaramanga.

There, in a full temple, the requiem mass was held in which her relatives continued with the sadness and helplessness due to her femicide at the hands of her ex-partner, Reinaldo Fandiño Ruiz, 54 years old, last Wednesday, May 15. on 34th Street with 23rd Street, in the Antonia Santos neighborhood.

In the words expressed by her relatives, the ‘disappointment’ remained, whether this tragedy could have been avoided, after the complaints that the woman made to the different entities in Bucaramanga.

“There were many antecedents that she revealed to the authorities and it all ended in tragedy. Now we have to honor her and reject these acts of violence, no more femicides,” said one of her friends.

Once the Catholic ceremony was over, his body was taken to the holy field of the La Esperanza Mausoleum in Floridablanca. Her family, her friends, her co-workers and some of her loved ones accompanied her to her final resting place to say goodbye.

When the sun set in the west, on the night of this Friday, May 17, her coffin was left in a vault and among her loved ones, the memory of a brave, hardworking woman who fought for her teenage son, who dared to denounce the violence she suffered from her former partner, but did not find enough help to avoid the tragedy.

On the other hand, the body of Reinaldo Fandiño Ruiz, who after murdering his ex-partner shot himself in the head, was claimed by a son from another relationship and he will be buried this weekend.

In Bucaramanga eight women are at risk of feminicide

The figure was known in a committee advanced in the Bucaramanga Mayor’s Office, with the participation of Mayor Jaime Andrés Beltrán, foundations that ensure women’s rights and other authorities.

Bucaramanga today has eight women at high risk of feminicide, the routes are activated but the system seems slow to dictate protection measures.

In his X account, Jaime Andrés Beltrán indicated that Bucaramanga has eight women at high risk of feminicide. He criticized the system that does not allow the protection of those under threat.

“The routes are activated, but the system seems slow to dictate protective measures. My call to the entities that make up the care routes for violated women is to strengthen prevention and not reaction. Cases like Yully’s teach us that there are situations that do not expect formalities or public processes,” said the president.
