These are the connections, schedules and prices

High speed arrives, starting this Tuesday, to two new Spanish destinations: Galicia and Asturias, with the launch of the series 106 trains, the Talgo Avril, with which Renfe offers the AVE service in the Galician cities of Vigo, Pontevedra, Vilagarcía, Santiago and A Coruña (the service in Ourense debuted in 2021); and in the Asturian destinations of Gijón and Oviedo.

Specifically, the railway operator has put one AVE train into service in each direction in the relations: Vigo-Madrid, with approximate times of just over 4 hours for the entire journey; and A Coruña-Madridwith times close to 3 and a half hours, which represents a reduction in average times of about 15 minutes.

In Asturias, which until now had long-distance connections since the launch of the Pajares variant on November 30, this launch represents the arrival of the AVE.

These premieres make possible the AVE connection between Córdoba and these destinations. These are the available trains, schedules and prices. ABC has consulted the convoys that can be taken on the weekend; have been included Every options; in some cases, not only with AVE but also with Alvia trains, since some of the combinations with the latter are more interesting because the waiting time to catch the link in Madrid is shorter:

  • Córdoba-Gijón. Three trains at 7:29 (takes 7 hours and costs 91.30 euros); 11.22 (7 hours and 23 minutes for 117.60 euros); and at 3:27 p.m., which arrives in Gijón at 10:23 p.m. and leaves for 107.20 euros.

  • Córdoba-Oviedo. The trains that can be taken from Córdoba with a connection in Madrid to Oviedo leave at 7:19 (90.30 euros and take 6 hours and 34 minutes); at 11:22 and arrives at 6:25 p.m. (115.10 euros); and at 3:27 p.m., convoy that reaches its destination at 9:56 p.m. The cost, in this case, is 106.20 euros.

The waiting time in the capital of Madrid until boarding the train to both Asturian destinations do not exceed two hoursaccording to the query made.

  • Córdoba-La Coruña. In this case, two trains are available from Cordoba: one leaving at 11:22 a.m. (arrives at 6:14 p.m. and costs about 160 euros); and the second, at 12:49 p.m. for 119 euros, but in this case, the connection in Madrid takes almost three hours to leave.

  • Córdoba-Vigo. At 7:54 a.m. (arrival at 3:38 p.m., for 103.30 euros); at 12:49, arriving at 8:12 p.m. (113.90 euros); and at 3:27 p.m., which costs 107.70 euros and arrives at its final destination at 11:36 p.m.

  • Córdoba-Pontevedra. Three trains are available, leaving at 7:54, 12:49 and 15:27, with a duration of 7 hours and 26 minutes; 7 a.m. and 5 min.; and 7 a.m. 50 min, respectively. Prices range between 96 and 114 euros. The connection in Madrid has between 1 hour and 12 minutes and 1 hour and 50 minutes of waiting.

  • Córdoba-Santiago. Renfe has three other trains for this destination that leave from Córdoba Central at 11:22 and arrive at 5:42 p.m.; 12:49, arriving in Santiago at 9:29 p.m.; and the one at 3:27 p.m., which reaches its destination at 10:30 p.m. Prices range from 152 to 162 euros.

Another good news is that, starting July 21, Asturias will have low-cost high-speed services. Galicia will have to wait until October to enjoy more affordable rates.

All prices can change based on demand; and even, if you travel during the week or with enough advance notice, you can find interesting options.
