The mayor of Rawson, Damián Biss, confirmed that the capital city of Chubut will undertake a project to expand its ejido, thus joining other towns such as Trelew, Puerto Madryn, 28 de Julio, Dolavon and Camarones, which anticipated that they will eventually do the same In the case of the provincial capital, the extension of the city towards Isla Escondida, Punta León and Punta Ninfas is contemplated.

In this sense, the municipal Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development “has been working for approximately two years together with the Province under an agreement, on the cleaning and maintenance of Isla Escondida, and it is important to emphasize that the city’s Volunteer Fire Service covers up to that sector,” they indicated from the rawsense administration.

“GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT”
Along these lines, the municipal president, Damián Biss, met with the provincial deputy, Sergio González, to discuss the project to expand the ejido of the city of Rawson.
In this regard, the municipal president expressed that “since I took office in 2019, we have been working on the expansion of the Rawson ejido, since it will contribute to its growth and development. Among the established places that the project will present are Isla Escondida, Punta Ninfas and Punta León.
“One of the crucial points for us and that will be indicated in the project is to be able to be the head of the Protected Areas like the neighboring towns,” he added.

«INTERESTS AND OBJECTIVES»
Regarding the controversy that has been generated by the project to expand the town of Trelew, he commented that “for the peace of mind of the residents of the capital, this has not entered the Legislature, but it has been raised before the Government of the Province.”
“Rawson will not be able to accompany an expansion of this type because it conflicts with the interests and objectives of the city,” he reviewed, adding that “we know that various alternatives are being worked on, but it has not yet reached us formally.”
Finally, he maintained that “we will continue working with nearby Mayors to see how to make the project compatible and benefit us all.”
